Poste proposé : Climate Change Specialist (M / F)

The Conservation through Economic Empowerment in the Republic of Congo (CEERC) project in Congo (Brazzaville), implemented by Tetra Tech International Development (www.tetratech.com/intdev) is currently accepting expressions of interest for a Communications and Knowledge Management Leader (M / F). This post will be located in the main office in Brazzaville.

Job Description :

The main objective of the CEERC project is to reduce threats to the biodiversity of carbon-rich forests and peatlands in the Republic of Congo (ROC). This five-year activity uses the market systems approach to promote conservation-oriented economic development and to strengthen green market systems. CEERC will work with the private sector, authorities responsible for natural resource management, international NGOs, communities, government, and other stakeholders, to build alliances and partnerships with the private sector, identify opportunities to improve an enabling environment for economic development, and build the capacity of community-based enterprises.

Tasks

  • The Climate Change Specialist will collaborate with the project's technical team to lead the climate change assessments of value chains and the project as a whole. THE Specialist will ensure the analysis and mitigation of the impacts of climate change on the activities of CEERC ;
  • The Specialist will assist the Communications, Collaboration, Learning, and Adaptation (CLA) Leader in developing strategies to encourage public awareness and behavior change ;
  • The Specialist will participate in CLA's break and reflection sessions by presenting new updates on the progress of activities and will capture success stories in front of CEERC partners, beneficiaries, and other USAID-funded projects ;
  • The Specialist, in close collaboration with the Head of Capacity Building and Small Grants, will ensure that the beneficiaries have the necessary knowledge and technical skills to incorporate climate change considerations into the project's grant programme ;
  • The successful candidate will support the monitoring and reporting of greenhouse gases (GHG)'s and sustainable landscape indicators;
  • The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief of Party (COP).

Responsibilities :

  • Lead climate change assessments and support GHG reduction activities through improved forest management, sustainable livelihoods, and improved enabling environment for policies and regulations ;
  • Ensure the technical supervision of beneficiaries and consultants, according to the instructions of the COP ;
  • Ensure the technical supervision of the project in accordance with the work plan ;
  • Ensure accurate reporting of activities and participate in budget and operational planning as required ;
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation of the project's performance and progress, including indicators of greenhouse gases (GHG)'s and sustainable landscape.
Profil recherché pour le poste : Climate Change Specialist (M / F)

Qualifications :

  • Minimum bachelor's level, bachelor's degree or equivalent, in a field relevant to the management of natural resources and/or climate change ;
  • At least 6 years of experience in the development sector providing technical assistance and/or advisory services in donor-funded projects ;
  • Experience demonstrates with climate change risk assessment and mitigation ;
  • Work experience in Central Africa ;
  • Written and oral mastery in French is mandatory, the practice of English is a plus ;
  • Experience with USAID preferred ;
  • Nationals of Congo (Brazzaville) are strongly encouraged to apply for the position.
